The challenge was the Apple Gatherer, an English bogey man who is known to lurk in orchards around twilight, keeps company with goblins and red caps, and has a particular fondness for small cats, dogs and children (mmmmm, babies... the other other white meat)
I know I'd be scared if I stumbled upon him in the dark...
My other CHOW entry (The Moon Miner's Daughter) has recently won the challenge as well as my Fairy Gangster, which means I am this week's host and the host for next week too. If you'd like to participate, pop on over to CA in the Character of the Week Forum (I'm JessiBean on there, and my challenge is Yin & Yang, and next week's should be loads of fun too)
this is awesome stuff. Your dabbling with mythology and illustrating them is really a treat to me. I still love fairy tales to this day. Guess a lot of us still do. That would be a scary bogeyman, Johnny Appleseed gone horrible?
I love your depiction of this concept! Also the colors you used are great. The details just bring it all together. I particularly like the eyes peering from the creature's coat.
