I've been taking Sam Nielson's advanced lighting class, which is truly excellent ( [link] ), and this is one of my assignments. I was given a simple line drawing of the blue sphere, the glass cup and the grapes on a checkered plane, and then I had to paint it with a strong light source in order to understand the translucent properties of light (caustics, reflection and refraction, and sub-surface scattering). I tried to turn my composition into a table in a witch's cottage.
Pretty pleased with how this game out, but man did it bend my brain. On to the next
It's amazing how something so simple, like a table with a few things, really isn't simple at all. I love the effort and detail you've put into this, the lighting must have been a killer. I'd love to take some class in lighting and learn it properly one day.
This is so inspiring!!! Wonderful work! My favourite is the potion bottle and the little light it casts with the shadow. I keep forgetting to do this in CG and I need to learn!
